Dunmore Park sits just north of Falkirk and is home to the famous Pineapple building that is a tourist favourite. This is where I started.
When you walk round in an anti-clockwise direction the next ruins you come to is the Elphinstone Tower. This is a fairly big structure nestled in the trees, as it was winter it was easy to see, might be well hidden in the summer. The tower has a small cemetery next to it, all the gravestone have been swallowed up by the trees and bushes.
further around is the main attraction, Dunmore house. Hidden in the tree line, you can just takeout the building, it’s a large building without its roof and floors. It still has some staircases to take you down to the basement. There are lots to explore here including the dark basement rooms.
After exploring the house, noticing the stables off in the distance, I’d thought I would check it out. Finding an open doorway round the back which led me to an open courtyard. There were doorways with stairs that took me up to a large empty room. The room had a wooden floor, but as I seen the age of the place and the fact that some flooring was missing, I took the decision to stick close to the stone staircase.
I followed the path round thinking it would take me back to the Pineapple, but the path got progressively muddier and overgrown, so I admitted defeat and walked back round seeing all the sights again. I went back into the gardens to take some more pictures of the Pineapple as the morning sun was brighter than when I started.
