Thought i’d make a new Scotland sticker for the new motorbiking season ahead. Went for the simple design of the thistle and the font ITC Kabel, which is a nice narrow sans serif.
The sticker is a nice grey colour that matches the Yamaha logo, just comes out as bright white with the flash.
As usual I have went overboard and made lots of stickers, some of them white background negative image.
I created the logo and a wordpress blog site for Barmybelle Wedding Stationery. The company Barmybelle create bespoke wedding stationery in Scotland. The were established in early 2013 and have been rapidly expanding through wedding shows and word of mouth. You can find their blog at barmybelle.com

Stickers for Nissan 370Z. On a gun metal vinyl.
At the end of July I went on a trip up north on the bike with my brother. We headed for the road to Applecross, as I was told it is a great road to go, and I was not disappointed. After the road to Applecross we headed to the north of the Cairngorms National Park and headed south. This answered another question of why do alot of motorbike runs go to Braemar, it’s because the roads are amazing in this area. In total the trip covered just over 700 miles and every mile was great scenery. I could have taken more pictures, but if I did, I would only be half way there by now.
By popular demand, a wee logo I created for my good friend Lisa. Lisa wanted a logo for her alternate identity of miss LT. The brief was simple, use the colours brown, orange and red, and it had to pass the strict Lisa quality test, which it did. Lisa has a blog that she uses to share her words of wisdom, crafty stuff, recipes and theories about life in general, not to mention some beautiful photography. www.missltcoolass.blogspot.com
I always wanted to design a new logo for a football team, I got a chance to do this for Breadalbane & Strathtay Youth Football Club. The club crest has a silhouette of the Kenmore Bridge at the foot of Loch Tay, which is close to Aberfeldy, where Breadalbane play.
Bruno's menu for the start of 2012
Here is the front cover for Bruno’s menu. Bruno’s is a family run business located in Johnstone. The family happens to be the one I’m part of, which makes it the most difficult client I have ever worked with, they say never work with family, they were not wrong. (Only kidding, it’s a joy to work with family). The line work design on the front menu is based on the traditional and beautiful woodwork outside the shop front.
The logo is for the kings of macumba, a samba band from paisley that I was privileged to be a part of. The band disbanded in the summer of 2011 after we played the main stage of wickerman festival. Whenever I go to a gig and see the band setup, or when the gig is over and everyone is rushing around to get all the gear packed up, it reminds me of the chaos that was involved with being part of a band, but mostly it reminds me of the good times playing live. The logo I designed was used for that last gig, we printed it onto T-shirts that was to be the uniform on stage.
The image of the crown logo was used on the T-shirts, but I re-worked the original circle logo, put in the crown KoM logo and added the paisley pattern style background to have some element of where the band originated.
So here is the start for me. I am starting up my freelance design business. I have a few clients that I deal with on a regular basis, and I’m always on the search for new clients. I have been a graphic designer for over 5 years, in that time I have mostly worked with design for print, but I can also design for new media. I put a small selection of my work in the portfolio tab and I will be constantly updating this blog about my new adventures in the world of design.
