The logo is for the kings of macumba, a samba band from paisley that I was privileged to be a part of. The band disbanded in the summer of 2011 after we played the main stage of wickerman festival. Whenever I go to a gig and see the band setup, or when the gig is over and everyone is rushing around to get all the gear packed up, it reminds me of the chaos that was involved with being part of a band, but mostly it reminds me of the good times playing live. The logo I designed was used for that last gig, we printed it onto T-shirts that was to be the uniform on stage.
The image of the crown logo was used on the T-shirts, but I re-worked the original circle logo, put in the crown KoM logo and added the paisley pattern style background to have some element of where the band originated.
I love how the idea has developed here – the background works well. Also, I think the logo looks better encapsulated in a circle. Love it!!
